Day 7 of Mentor on Road, USA

"When an idea exclusively occupies the mind, it is transformed into an actual physical or mental state."

-Swami Vivekananda

The day started with a relaxed morning. First interaction was with the reputed Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO). GOPIO was founded at the First Global Convention of People of Indian Origin in New York in 1989. The initial thrust of GOPIO was fighting human rights violation of people of Indian origin. Although this has been improved in the last one decade, human rights violations continue to be a major issue for PIOs living outside India. GOPIO has now set its priorities in pooling our resources, both financial and professional, for the benefit of PIOs, the countries they come from and India.

Enthusiastic participants were there.Youngsters were committed and each person was a leader in their own way. Mr and Mrs Jay Bhandari ji, founder of GOPIO and Mr. Pradeep Sharma, President of GOPIO Virginia with their young team had done great arrangements.

Many intelligent questions were raised by the participants. Their body language was very positive and were attentive too. I shared details about the success stories of New India 3.0. I am confident that most participants will spread the word and eventually get the villages adopted. Etihad Airways gave a good presentation. Etihad Airways is a flag carrier and the second-largest airline of the UAE. In addition to its core activity of passenger transportation, Etihad also operates Etihad Holidays and Etihad Cargo. The airline operates more than 1,000 flights per week to over 120 passenger and cargo destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas, with a fleet of 122 Airbus and Boeing aircraft as of July 2016.

In a unique partnership with MoR, USA, Etihad Airways is offering two free tickets through a raffle draw on 19th September 2017 to all the participants who attend the Mentor on Road USA events. Suru and Prashant, the two IT company delegates from India joined the MoR program and had good networking sessions.

Then we went to have tea at Mr. Jay Bhandari’s residence and thanked Mrs. Bhandari for the amazing homely hospitality, Indore style. Had some thought-provoking discussions for taking next steps, with GOPIO's core team.

Thanks to Mr. Bhandariji for arranging the interview with TV Asia. Had  a good interaction when Mr. Bhandari interviewed me.

Then we went for dinner to Rupa Vira’s The Signature restaurant. Rupa Vira’s The Signature brings the inspiring signature authentic Indian flavors with wide ranging culinary influences to Washington Metropolitan Area.
Chef Rupa Vira’s food is well known within the South Asian community in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. Her signature cooking style is well appreciated by everyone. It is run by Mr. Sharad  and Rupa Vira, relatives of my close friend Kirit and Mala Udeshi of DC.

Since it was a Sunday evening, the restaurant was completely occupied and thus we had to wait for our turn to come. Indeed the restaurant was so famous that even the people arriving in Mercedes and Maseratis could not find themselves a place and unfortunately had to return. The ambience of the restaurant was that of a warehouse which we found quite innovative. Also the ceiling was quite high, making the restaurant even more splendid. The taste of the food reminded us of our home country as it tasted just like home made food. The quality of service was good too. There’s a belief that if you cook heartedly and feed others like family, then the other person to whom you are feeding feels completely satisfied. We found the same satisfaction on the delicious food of panner starters, kachori, chutnee, bhakri, khichdi and kadhi. Even in India we haven’t enjoyed such food. I strongly recommend a visit in to the restaurant. For more details click the following link www.thesignatureva.com

We were glad to meet Sharadbhai, a person with a rare combination of talent. He is an interior decorator and has a good knowledge of Vastu Shashtra as well. Vastu shastra is a traditional Hindu system of architecture. which literally translates to “science of architecture.” These are texts found on the Indian subcontinent that describe principles of design, layout, measurements, ground preparation, space arrangement and spatial geometry. The designs are intended to integrate architecture with nature. It was interesting to listen to Sharadbhai's stories of how Vastu has impacted the life of so many people around him. We feel blessed to have met such humble people in our life and thank god for the same.

After an hour long drive, we finally reached our hotel, Quality Inn - College Park. It felt good to be back to our comfortable bed. The accommodation and the service quality of the hotel are top-notch. It is managed efficiently and professionally by Mr. Paul Patel. His signature of quality and commitment to customer service can be seen all over the hotel. I strongly recommend a stay in this hotel. For more details click the following link http://www.qismd.com
